A donor-advised fund is a simple, flexible, and tax-efficient way to give to your favorite charities, including your church. Donor-advised funds are one of the fastest-growing charitable giving vehicles in the United States because they are one of the easiest and most tax-efficient ways to give to charity. Your financial planner, attorney, or tax advisor and help you set up a DAF.

A QCD is a direct transfer of funds from an individual’s IRA custodian account, payable to a qualified charity. In addition to the benefits of giving to charity, a QCD excludes the amount donated from taxable income, which is unlike regular withdrawals from an IRA. For those 73 and older, QCDs can be counted toward meeting your required minimum distributions (RMDs) for the year if certain requirements are met.

Real property and privately held business interests may be an option to donate to the church. First, you potentially eliminate the capital gains tax you would incur if you sold the interest yourself and donated the proceeds, which may increase the amount available for charity by up to 20%. Second, you may claim a fair market value charitable deduction for the tax year in which the gift is made and may choose to pass on those savings in the form of more giving.

Estate planning is important to your family. It provides instructions for handling your affairs and reduces confusion at a difficult time. It also offers an opportunity for you to share your Christian faith and your desires for the futures of your loved ones. Legacy gifts provide income for ministries, giving you the satisfaction of knowing you can continue supporting ministries well beyond your lifetime.
