Life Group Questions


Starter: Think about someone who is not a Jesus follower.  Do they think they are a good person?  Why or why not?



  • Read Ephesians 2:1-3
  • What kind of sin is a mis-step (transgression)?  What kind of sin is missing the mark (sins)?
  • Please share, in your opinion, three common ways our world teaches us it is okay to be broken?
  • Do you think it is possible for a person to control all their cravings and desires with their own willpower?  Why or why not?
  • Read Ephesians 2:4-7
  • God is described as having great love, being rich in mercy, and giving grace.   Besides his death and resurrection, when did Jesus show great love?  When did he demonstrate he was rich in mercy?  When did Jesus give grace?
  • Paul teaches that Jesus continues to give grace beyond our salvation.  In what ways do you see God show up every day with grace?
  • Read Ephesians 2:8-9.
  • In your opinion, in what ways do people try to earn God’s love and grace?  Does it work?
  • Kyle Snodgrass said, “Faith is promising all of yourself to a God who keeps his promises.  How do you see God keeping his promises to you?  How do you see God keeping his promises to people who are not saved?
  • Read Ephesians 2:10
  • You are God’s handiwork.  Do you value yourself as someone God has uniquely made?  Why or why not?
  • God made you for good works.  You have a purpose.  How would you describe your specific purpose, your reason for existing?
