Series:The Man Who Had Everything   Passages:     Teacher: Dr. Clay Smith

Sermon Discussion Questions:

Starter:  Think back 25 years.  What was your relationship with God like then?  What it is like now?

  • Read Philippians 3:12-14
  • Paul writes Philippians at the end of his life, yet he says he has not arrive at his goal.  At what age do Christians begin to think they have reached their goal?  At what age do Christians typically stop growing in their faith?
  • Paul speaks of “taking hold of that which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”  What do you think he is referring to?  What happens to a person if they fail to take hold of what Paul refers to?
  • At the end of his life, Paul is still striving toward his goal.  What goal are you still striving toward?  Did you give up too soon?  Did you quit on a spiritual goal or relationship because it got too hard?
  • In verse 14, Paul refers to a “prize.”  What do you think the prize is?  What will your prize in heaven look like?  How does that make you feel?
